Traditional Ottoman Mosaic Lamps. by LampsGalaxy on Etsy
Hand made mosaic lamps have been made since Ottoman time. The old ones can be found in lots of mosques and palaces. Neither the technique of making nor the decoration on them hasn’t changed much either. Glass artists usually create the patterns also quite often they use motifs from traditional Turkish carpets, ceramics, tiles and mosaics.
First of all the main glass lamp get made of clear glass in classical way. An artist cuts little pieces from one colour glass sheets. The artist him/her self decided what shape and size pieces would be cut. Later on they start making the patterns using those glass pieces and small glass beads by sticking them on the main glass lamp usually using plaster.
